Remove Bandage Within 1-2 Hours
All Wounds Need To Breath If They Are To Heal Properly
Do Not Rebandage the Tattoo
Keep Your Tattoo Clean!!
Dirty sheets, dirty clothes, touching without washing your hands, and animal dander/contact can cause irritation as well as minor to major infections.
Try to keep any foreign objects from touching a fresh tattoo
Wash the Tattoo using a mild unscented liquid anti bacterial soap, such as Dial Gold, with warm water
Take care to remove all traces of blood and plasma as this will cause scabbing. Do Not Scrub the Tattoo with a washcloth or loofah during the two week healing period. Let your tattoo air dry or pat with a clean paper towel
It is very important to let your tattoo "Breath".
Avoid over saturating your tattoo with lotions or ointments
Once dry, apply a small amount of RX Tattoo Aftercare, or a natural product that contains NO Petroleum!
Make sure you are keeping enough ointment or lotion on the Tattoo so it does not dry out. Be careful not to glob on the ointment
Repeat the cycle of washing, drying, and applying ointment to the Tattoo about 2-3 times per day for the first 5-7 days (while the Tattoo feels tender)
Apply unscented moisturizer twice a day for the remainder of 4 weeks
Do Not use lotions that contain fragrance or color until the healing is complete
Do Not Swim, take long showers, or baths for the first 2-3 weeks. Prolonged soaking can and will loosen scabs if any have formed, or will soak through the soft tissue turning it into a soggy mess and cause your ink to flow down the drain. This includes swimming in a pool, hot tubs, and saunas. Short showers are best during the healing process
Do Not pick, scratch, or rub your tattoo. Scrubbing with a washcloth or loofah can be very harsh on a tattoo and cause your colors to fade. Disrupting the Tattoo while healing can also cause scar tissue. It is normal for the Tattoo to become very itchy during the healing process. Just remember to not pick or scratch no matter what! If your tattoo becomes itchy, you may apply an ice pack for short durations. Be sure to put a clean barrier, washcloth or towel, between your tattoo and an ice pack
Remember, the sun is bad for your tattoo! Whether the Tattoo is new or old, keep it out of direct sunlight. A sunburn on a new tattoo can cause a lot of problems. It will dry out your tattoo and could cause it to form a horrendous scab resulting in fading before your tattoo is even healed. Wait until your tattoo is completely healed to go back in the sun or tanning bed and make sure to use high quality sunblock. Never put sunblock on a new tattoo that is still healing
